5 Tips to help you find fresh ideas

  • Open your eyes: People have the tendencies to look at one particular thing or process only part of the information available to them. This is called selective attention. It’s important to capture/observe as much as possible from a particular scene or environment. Sometimes, the greatest innovative ideas come from our surroundings.
  • Be open-minded: Try new things and try to see them from a different perspective.   Do not be judgmental. Step outside your comfort zone. Consider the weirdest ideas.
  • Do not be afraid of failure: The fear of failure is one of the biggest barriers to innovation. Humans are afraid that if they fail people will judge or reject them but failure provides an opportunity to learn and do things better. How many times had Apple failed before it became one of the most innovative companies?
  • Change your routines: Think about something  that you know or think you are doing wrong but that you continue to do because you have always done it that way.  Albert Einstein once said “we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking that we used when we created them.”
  • Assess your strengths and weaknesses: What are you good at? What do you do well? What can’t you do? What can you do differently to address your shortcomings?
